As part of the "Energy Knowledge on Tuesday" lecture series, an expert from Stadtwerke Gießen will explain everything you need to know about building optimisation on 26 September.

What measures can be taken to improve the energy efficiency of buildings? This key question will be answered by Stadtwerke Gießen's (SWG) energy advisory service in the next lecture in the "Energy Knowledge on Tuesday" series. In it, an SWG expert will deliberately not go into the insulation of the building envelope, the replacement of windows and doors or other cost-intensive measures. "This presentation is all about the many small improvements that can add up to considerable savings," reveals Moritz Müller, SWG energy consultant. That's why it is explicitly aimed not only at homeowners, but also at anyone who is renting. "Tenants can also benefit from our optimisation suggestions," Moritz Müller is convinced.

A little building physics is a must

The presentation begins with a brief excursion into building physics. And for good reason: "We think it's essential that people can understand where the problem lies," the energy consultant points out. It goes without saying that the specialist explains this seemingly unwieldy topic in a way that is understandable to laypeople. Of course, this also includes how the individual heating energy requirement can be calculated. Last but not least, the energy consultant explains where it is worth taking a closer look.

Lots of recommendations

Of course, the presentation does not stop at theoretical explanations. In the second part of the presentation, a whole host of recommendations are summarised - sorted according to financial outlay. "Sealing draughty windows and doors doesn't cost the earth, but it saves a lot of energy," says Moritz Müller, citing a classic example. Important to know: Energy demand - and therefore consumption - depends not only on the building itself and the efficiency of the existing heat generator, but also to a large extent on individual behaviour. Consequently, this aspect is also taken into account.

Register now
The "Energy knowledge on Tuesday" lecture series is an online offer from the SWG energy advice centre. This means that interested parties can attend free of charge. If you would like to attend the lecture "Measures for building optimisation" on 26 September at 5:30 pm from the comfort of your own home, please register informally by 24 September at energieberatung@stadtwerke-giessen.de. SWG will send out an access link in good time. As with all events in the series, there will be an opportunity to talk to the speaker. He will answer any questions directly afterwards.
