Homeowners who want to renovate their heating system now have another option: with "Wärme direkt", Stadtwerke Gießen offers the opportunity to purchase a new heating system without having to invest a large sum.

Experts advise homeowners to regularly build up reserves for their property - for example, to prepare financially for the necessary purchase of a new heating system. Strictly speaking, however, this is no longer necessary. Thanks to a new service from Stadtwerke Gießen (SWG), no liquid funds are required for the upcoming heating system refurbishment from an energy point of view. The "Wärme direkt" product is a contracting service that makes a traditional investment in your own heating system superfluous.

How contracting works
Contracting means that customers and SWG conclude a contract for the supply of ready-to-use heat produced in their own boiler room. SWG takes care of the planning, installation and operation of the necessary boiler. To achieve this, they co-operate closely with partner companies in the SHK guild based in the region.
The resulting all-round service is not only convenient, but also inexpensive. This is because those who purchase "direct heating" pay a contractually agreed monthly amount - effectively an instalment for investment and operation. SWG records the heat supplied precisely and charges it according to actual consumption.
This contract structure is convincing in several ways: manageable monthly amounts are set against the typical, comparatively high investments that would inevitably be required for an in-house heating system. Maintenance, servicing, repairs, chimney sweep fees and a reliable emergency service are already covered. If a problem arises, all it takes is a phone call and a fitter will take care of it. As is usual with other energy sources, the transparent, annual heat billing takes place with easily calculable monthly instalments. Last but not least, this modern form of heating modernisation also supports climate protection. This is because a natural gas condensing boiler of the latest generation, as installed by SWG, saves fuel from the outset and therefore causes lower CO2 emissions. The idea of contracting reinforces this effect. As the operator of the system, SWG has an economic interest in ensuring that the heating system works efficiently. And this applies for the entire term of the contract, which is usually 15 years. Consequently, the energy experts do everything they can to ensure that the heating system is always optimally adjusted, cleaned, regularly checked and maintained.

Customised

Anyone interested in "Wärme direkt" can contact the energy advice service at the SWG customer centre on Marktplatz. The specialists will then arrange an appointment on site. This is necessary in order to find the optimum individual heating solution. SWG then submits an offer, which of course already shows the monthly amounts that will be due over the term of the contract.

SWG customer centre opening hours: Mondays to Fridays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Initial contact can of course also be made by telephone: 0800 23 02 100 (free of charge from German landlines and all German mobile phone networks).
