Stadtwerke Gießen is expanding its product range to include two attractive green electricity tariffs. The electrical energy for the two new tariffs comes 100 per cent from European hydropower.

For many years now, Stadtwerke Gießen (SWG) has been supplying its private and commercial customers with Giessen green electricity, i.e. electrical energy that comes 40 per cent from its own combined heat and power plants and thus significantly reduces the impact on the climate. SWG is now offering its customers the opportunity to do even more for the climate. For Gießener Grünstrom Plus and Gießener Grünstrom Plus Drive, the two new purely green electricity tariffs, SWG has secured corresponding quantities from certified European hydropower. "Guarantees of origin guarantee that the green electricity we sell is actually generated in hydropower plants and is only sold once," emphasises Ina Weller, SWG company spokesperson.

Small differences
Giessener Grünstrom Plus is the ideal choice for anyone who wants to reduce their household's carbon footprint. Of course, this also includes charging any electric car you may already have. After all, it is well known that such a vehicle is only really CO2-free when it is powered by genuine green electricity. Just how important this aspect is can be seen from the recently launched state subsidy for private wallboxes: The condition for payment of the subsidy is operation with certified green electricity. "Both products fulfil the requirements of the KfW 440 funding programme," adds Ina Weller. This means that anyone who has an appropriate wallbox installed and uses Giessener Grünstrom Plus receives the state subsidy for their own charging station.
This is exactly where Giessener Grünstrom Plus Drive comes into play. This pure charging electricity tariff can only be combined with a household electricity tariff and requires a second meter, but offers particularly favourable conditions. Also important to know: The special offer for e-mobilists is only available in the area covered by SWG subsidiary Mittelhessen Netz GmbH (MIT.N).
As usual, SWG has calculated the price with a sharp pen. In fact, Giessener Grünstrom Plus is cheaper than most people think. A look at the price calculator, which is easy to find on the SWG website, shows exactly what is payable. It also contains all the important information - such as contract terms.
Keyword website: Giessener Grünstrom Plus is only available online. However, the convenient ordering procedure is not used for the Drive charging station. To avoid any confusion, SWG has provided a special form for this tariff on the website for downloading.
