Energy efficiency is playing an increasingly important role for homeowners and tenants. This is because well-insulated façades and roofs as well as modern heating solutions significantly reduce energy consumption - and therefore also costs. No wonder that efficient energy supply has been one of the most important topics at BauExpo in Giessen for years - especially at the Stadtwerke Giessen (SWG) stand. Visitors were once again able to find out about the wide range of energy-saving products and services on offer here in 2017. "We support tenants, homeowners and anyone who is building their own property with a range of services. These range from initial advice on energy-efficient solutions and the preparation of an energy performance certificate to a heating check or replacement of a heating system," explains Michael Rösner, Head of Private and Commercial Customer Sales at SWG. Numerous guests at the BauExpo received helpful initial tips from the SWG experts on the days of the fair. Many of them also took part in the prize draw, where they had the chance to win an attractive prize.

Prizes presented at the customer centre
In the meantime, the five winners have been chosen. The first prize - a voucher for a blower door test worth 390 euros - went to Sven Baldauf from Giessen. The test is used to measure the airtightness of a building. This analysis provides information on how airtight the building envelope is and helps to detect leaks.
The second prize - a voucher for a thermography worth 350 euros - was presented by Michael Rösner to Ingeborg Schmidt from Pohlheim on 20 April at the customer centre on Marktplatz. Third-placed Rainer Müller from Reiskirchen and fourth-placed Sabrina Krüger from Rabenau each received 1000 kilowatt hours of Giessen green electricity. Holger Dietz from Staufenberg was delighted to receive the prize for fifth place - a Heating Checkplus worth 138 euros. During the Heating Checkplus, a qualified tradesman from one of SWG's partner companies scrutinises the entire system and assesses its energy quality. "In this way, owners can get a good idea of the savings potential of their heating system. They then know exactly what they stand to gain from a heating system refurbishment," explained Michael Rösner at the award ceremony.
