Stadtwerke Gießen (SWG) has been answering all questions relating to energy and local transport in the completely redesigned customer centre on the market square for several weeks now. At the end of May, all interested parties were able to visit the new premises at an open day. SWG had prepared an entertainment programme especially for this day with the clown Ichmael and various activities for children and young people as well as a competition. A total of 571 people took part in the prize draw.
On 14 June, Anne Müller-Kreutz, Head of Local Transport Services at SWG, presented the two winners with their prizes. Elke Römer received a voucher for 5000 kilowatt hours of NATURA green electricity from Stadtwerke Gießen. Rudolf Titz won an RMV annual pass for the Giessen city fare zone for second place. Third place winner Martina Stein-Hill, who was not present at the prize-giving ceremony, is looking forward to a hot air balloon ride to which she can take another person.

More space for service on three floors
Anne Müller-Kreutz congratulated the winners and was delighted with the positive feedback from the first few weeks after the reopening: "The premises have been very well received by our customers. We keep hearing that the service has improved even more thanks to the additional space in the building. That was exactly our goal." Customers can now find the right advisors for local transport and energy on three floors. In the basement, Stadtwerke Gießen has also installed a demonstration wall with a multi-branch house connection and various heating technology systems.
In addition to the service, energy efficiency has also been further improved in the remodelled building. It now has ultra-modern insulating glass windows, full thermal insulation and a connection to the municipal district heating network. If required, for example during the summer months, an adsorption chiller converts the incoming heat into cold in a cost-effective and climate-friendly way. "As a municipal energy company, we have placed particular emphasis on efficiency," emphasised Anne Müller-Kreutz.
The ambience has also changed since the remodelling. Lots of natural sunlight now enters through large windows and sound-absorbing flooring and special ceiling elements ensure that there is a pleasant background noise when there is a large crowd.
