Preparations for the traffic trial for the third phase will start on Monday 31 July. The two inner lanes of the city centre ring road from Selterstor to Oswaldsgarten will then be fully closed. Both city buses and regional traffic will have to use diversion routes for the duration of the construction work. Once the roadworks in the Nordanlage have been completed, city bus routes 3 and 13 will return to their regular routes.
Giessen. The city of Giessen has completed half of the preparations for the traffic trial on the Anlagenring. Work on the penultimate phase will continue from Monday. This will affect bus services, which will no longer be able to use the Westanlage from Selterstor to Oswaldsgarten for a period of approx. 3 weeks from the start of operations.
The changes to the city bus routes in detail:
Line 2 (from the railway station to Eichendorffring)
In the direction of Eichendorffring, buses will run from the railway station via Bahnhofstraße, Westanlage and Reichensand to the "Marktplatz" stop.
The stops "Liebigstraße", "Bahnhofstraße" and "Oswaldsgarten" cannot be served by line 2. Alternatively, the "Katharinengasse" stop in Reichensand will be served.
Lines 5 and 15 (from the railway station to Greizer Straße or Burgenring)
Both lines run in the direction of Wieseck from the "Liebigstraße" stop via Selterstor and Südanlage to the "Behördenzentrum" stop in Ostanlage.
The stops "Katharinengasse" and "Marktplatz" cannot be served. The "Johanneskirche" stop in the Südanlage can be used as a replacement.
Venus night bus (from the railway station to Berliner Platz)
In the direction of Berliner Platz, the Venus night bus runs from the "Liebigcenter" stop via Bahnhofstraße, Westanlage, Reichensand and Neustadt to the "Schützenstraße" stop.
The "Mühlstraße" stop cannot be approached. Alternatively, the stops "Katharinengasse" in Reichensand and "Oswaldsgarten" in Neustadt will be served.
Due to time constraints, the "Hessenhalle" and "Hardtallee" stops will also have to be cancelled.
The changes to the surrounding lines in detail:
Lines 24 and X24 (from the railway station in the direction of Wetzlar)
Between 7.15 a.m. and 8.15 p.m., journeys on line 24 from Giessen railway station will run in the following sequence: Giessen "Bahnhof", "Katharinengasse", "Oswaldsgarten". The stops "Liebigstraße", "Johanneskirche", "Stadttheater" and "Marktplatz" will be cancelled. The same applies on Saturdays between 8:00 and 19:00.
The original route of route 24 will remain in place in the mornings and evenings, outside the aforementioned periods and on Sundays.
The X24 journeys in the direction of Wetzlar will serve the "Oswaldsgarten" stop instead of "Mühlstraße".
Line GI-25 (from Reinhardshain to Gießen-Johanneskirche)
The construction site timetable is valid for the entire duration of the changeover phase. There is therefore no change to the second changeover phase. The GI-25 line runs anti-clockwise in the inner city area from the "Steinstraße" stop via the "Nordanlage", "Oswaldsgarten" and "Marktplatz" stops to the "Behördenzentrum" terminus. From there, the GI-25 line runs via "Landgericht" back to the "Steinstraße" stop and takes the regular route. The stops "Mühlstraße", "Bahnhofstraße" and "Johanneskirche" will be cancelled.
Lines GI-41 and GI-42 (from the railway station in the direction of Biebertal and Heuchelheim)
The surrounding lines 41 and 42 will also have to take a different route during the construction work. The "Liebigstraße", "Bahnhofstraße" and "Mühlstraße" stops cannot be served. From the railway station, the route leads via Bahnhofstraße, Westanlage, Reichensand and Neustadt to the "Schützenstraße" stop. Alternatively, the stops "Katharinengasse" in Reichensand and "Oswaldsgarten" in Neustadt will be served.
Line 379 (from the railway station to Linden)
During this time, line 379 in the direction of Linden will take the direct route from Giessen railway station via the Frankfurter Straße level crossing to Großen-Linden and then on to Linden-Leihgestern. The stops "Stadtwerke" and "Parkhaus Lahnstraße" will be cancelled. The "Friedrichstraße" stop in Frankfurter Straße will also be served.
