Event dates, service offers, leisure tips, contact details for public authorities and lots of discounts to boot - the Giessen app provides all of this. As a partner of the operating company Distama, Stadtwerke Gießen presented a bus today, which - appropriately labelled - advertises the practical and free app with its many added values.
A quick glance at your smartphone and you know what's going on - for a good three years now, the Giessen app has been providing its more than 20,000 users with lots of useful information that is of interest in Giessen and the region. But the smart tool can now do even more. Since Stadtwerke Gießen (SWG) has been on board as a partner, the programme now has an additional section: the SWG bonus world. Here you will find regularly changing offers at special conditions. "We want to offer our customers real added value with the SWG Bonus World," explains Jens Schmidt, Commercial Director of SWG, on the occasion of the presentation of a bus that will draw attention to the electronic helper in the coming months.
"Put simply, the Giessen app combines a regional calendar of events, a voucher book and a constantly updated collection of important contacts in digital form," summarises Mark Pralle. He and his colleague Michael Raubach, Managing Director of the Gießener Anzeiger, are the creators of the app and are responsible for the Gießen App with their company Distama - a joint venture between the Gießen-based software company Fabrik 19 and the Gießener Anzeiger. From the very beginning, the two have consistently pursued the goal of making as much relevant and useful information as possible available in a clear and well-organised manner. This principle also applied to the Gießen-Entdecken app, the predecessor of the Gießen app.
Close cooperation
"We are delighted to have SWG as a partner and to have been able to add an attractive component to our app with the SWG bonus world," adds Michael Raubach. SWG customers in particular are likely to be interested in the new, improved Giessen app. In addition to the options of entering meter readings or viewing contracts, the dedicated SWG area also opens up the SWG bonus world. This is where SWG provides its customers with changing, exclusive value-added offers. For example, there is currently the opportunity to get discounts at the pools and in the sauna. In addition, there are currently selected offers from the action experts at Jochen Schweizer at particularly favourable conditions. "In the coming months, there will be more and more new bargains," announces Jens Schmidt.
Good for retailers and services
However, it's not just smartphone users who benefit from the Giessen app. "The intelligent platform also helps local retailers and local service providers," says a delighted Astrid Eibelshäuser, city councillor and Chairwoman of the Supervisory Board of Stadtwerke Gießen. "So there are only winners." It was precisely this far-reaching benefit that was a decisive argument for those responsible at SWG to join the Giessen App as a partner. Jens Schmidt puts it like this: "The Giessen app quickly won us over. Such a smart service that benefits so many people is in line with our understanding of commitment to the region."
Because the concept and technology behind the app fit, it would be a shame to limit this good idea to Giessen alone. "We are already in the process of marketing the app in other municipalities and have already had good discussions in this direction," explains Mark Pralle. So there is a good chance that people in other German cities will soon be able to enjoy the convenience of such an app.
The Giessen app is available to download free of charge from the Android and iOS stores. Once installed, it is of course easy and intuitive to use. Registering for the protected SWG area is also child's play - but necessary in order to take advantage of the offers in the SWG bonus world. All you need is the same data as when you first registered in the online service - i.e. the customer number and the number of a corresponding meter. Redeeming vouchers or taking advantage of rebate offers is just as simple: just select them and follow the self-explanatory dialogue.
