Stadtwerke opens Ringallee outdoor pool on Monday, 15 May

Even if the weather forecast for the coming week is a little more unsettled, the outdoor pool season is just around the corner. On Monday, 15 May, at 9 a.m., the starting signal will be given for the 2006 swimming season at the Ringallee outdoor pool operated by Stadtwerke Gießen AG (SWG). The swimming pool will be open daily until 8 pm until September. The water is let in and heated to 21 degrees. The SWG employees put the finishing touches to the sunbathing lawns a few days ago. This means that summer can come.

Maintenance work
Stadtwerke used the winter break to give some of the outdoor pool facilities a new shine. The area around the diving pool was almost completely paved with new stone slabs. The "Bird's Nest" children's swing was overhauled and given a new support pillar to ensure safety. The stairs in the area of the non-swimmers' pool were given a new coat of paint by SWG. The sunbathing lawns were provided with some new plants. In the final spurt of preparations, the SWG employees cleaned all the pools and spruced up the green areas. The pools in Kleinlinden and Lützellinden will open in the next few days. Interested parties can find out exactly when they will open in the daily newspapers.

Admission prices remain constant
Admission prices have remained stable, reported Uwe Volbrecht, Deputy Head of Swimming Pool Services at SWG. The single ticket costs a standardised two euros. The price for a five-ticket is eight euros. Adults pay 56 euros for season tickets, children and other authorised persons 28 euros. The family ticket costs 112 euros.

Early morning swimming back in the programme
This year, the Stadtwerke is once again offering its bathing guests early morning swimming. Those who wish to do so and purchase an early swimmer ticket in addition to their season ticket can swim their laps in the Ringallee outdoor pool from 7 am. Season tickets for the outdoor pools on Ringallee, in Lützellinden and in Kleinlinden can already be purchased at the ticket office of the indoor pool on Ringallee.

Summer holidays - tent camps
During the summer holidays, Stadtwerke will once again be organising tent camps for 9 to 14-year-old children at the Ringallee swimming centre. The programme promises plenty of variety. In addition to activities such as beach volleyball and football, SWG is offering an excursion and a night hike. There are four dates to choose from and the price is 88 euros including accommodation in a tent and three meals a day. Anyone interested can call 0641 708 1411 for more information or to register.
