Up to and including Sunday 4 September, it is still possible to cool off from the current high summer temperatures. Take a dip in one of the outdoor pools in Kleinlinden or Lützellinden. After the past two Corona summers and thanks to the exceptionally good weather - especially during the summer holidays - the seasonal assessment of Giessen's pools is extremely positive. Around 28,000 people came to refresh themselves in the two pools on a total of 86 opening days. "We are delighted that so many people have taken up our offer in this first normal season after two years," explains Uwe Volbrecht, head of the Giessen pools.

In order to be able to welcome bathers in Lützellinden again, the Giessen pools had the outdoor pool lined with a special foil in winter. "We are using this more modern material for the first time. It has proven itself excellently in the tough everyday life of the pool," summarises Uwe Volbrecht.

Outdoor pool as a competition venue

Incidentally, the outdoor pool in Kleinlinden is not just a pleasant place to spend time in good weather. On 9 July 2022, it became the venue for the 4th Linneser Mini-Triathlon. 21 adults and 39 children took part in this now traditional event organised by TSV Klein-Linden, covering 200 and 50 metres respectively in water that was around 24 degrees at the time. "It's a matter of honour for us to make our pool available for such a great event," adds Uwe Volbrecht.

Another three weeks

However, the outdoor pool season in Giessen is not quite over. The Ringallee outdoor pool is still open until 25 September for swimmers to enjoy the fresh air. All those who have purchased a season ticket for one of the pools in Lützellinden or Kleinlinden can benefit from this. These remain valid and grant admission to the Ringallee outdoor pool from Monday.
