Although the sun has been rather scarce in spring, quite a few meteorologists are predicting a long, warm summer. This would then result in another extended outdoor pool season. This is exactly what will begin in Lützellinden and Kleinlinden on Monday, 3 June 2019. In recent weeks, Stadtwerke Gießen (SWG) has made both pools fit for the next three to three and a half months.
There has been an important change at the Kleinlinden outdoor pool: the main entrance has been relocated. It is now located at the sports field - right next to the pool attendant's house. This offers several advantages: Due to the proximity, the staff can respond directly to the bathers and their concerns. "We have also put a stop to uncontrolled access," explains Uwe Volbrecht, head of the Giessen pools. In fact, with the reopening, it is now only possible to go from the outdoor pool to the kiosk.
There have also been personnel changes. In Lützellinden, swimming champion Alexander Nickerl took over the management of the outdoor pool. Specialist employee Sebastian Even holds this position in Kleinlinden.

Stable prices

As in the Ringallee outdoor pool, SWG is keeping the admission prices in the district pools at the same level as last year. A single ticket costs 2.80 euros, a five-person ticket 12.60 euros and a season ticket 56 euros. For children up to the age of 15, schoolchildren, students and people with disabilities, there are reduced five-entry and season tickets for 8.40 and 37.50 euros respectively. The season ticket for a family costs 112 euros. For students of Justus Liebig University, the Technical University of Central Hessen and the Theological University, the tried and tested regulation remains in place: They have free admission on presentation of their student ID.
SWG has not changed the opening times either. Both pools will open at 1 pm. Last admission is always one hour before the official closing time. This is usually scheduled for 7 pm. On days with temperatures above 25 degrees, SWG extends the bathing fun until 8 pm. "The pools are in perfect condition and we are looking forward to the upcoming season with hopefully many satisfied bathers," says Uwe Volbrecht. "If the meteorologists are right with their favourable forecasts, nothing stands in the way of a great season."
