Now the summer can come: On Sunday, 5 June, Stadtwerke Gießen (SWG) will also open the outdoor pools in Lützellinden and Kleinlinden. At the Ringallee outdoor pool, the starting signal was given on 8 May. "The construction work is progressing well, so we are planning to go into operation next Sunday," reports Uwe Volbrecht, Head of Pool Operations at SWG. In recent weeks, the annual repair work has been carried out, minor winter damage has been repaired and the facilities have been thoroughly cleaned.
Free use of public Wi-Fi
A practical innovation awaits visitors in both Lützellinden and Kleinlinden: They can use free public Wi-Fi on the outdoor pool grounds for 30 minutes every day. Access works in exactly the same way as at the Ringallee or Seltersweg outdoor pools: all you need to do to register is enter your e-mail address. The system then creates a login ID and password and sends them to the e-mail address. "Now our bathers can also use our popular service in these two outdoor pools and quickly check their e-mails or look up a bus connection," says Uwe Volbrecht.
Free with a semester ticket
There is also a surprise in store for students at Justus Liebig University Giessen: from now on, they will receive free access to the outdoor pools on presentation of their semester ticket. All they have to do is report to the staff. Access is possible once a day.
Prices and opening times
There are no changes to the opening times: as in previous years, access to the outdoor pools is possible daily between 1pm and 7pm. If temperatures are forecast to exceed 25 degrees, the opening hours will be extended to 10 am to 8 pm as usual. The ticket office closes one hour earlier, i.e. at 6pm or 7pm.
After two years without an increase, SWG will have to raise admission prices slightly from this season. A day ticket now costs 2.50 euros, while a season ticket for adults costs 50 euros. The price of a reduced season ticket is 33.40 euros and a family season ticket costs 100 euros.
