Wind and weather had clearly left their mark over the past ten years. The wooden posts of the fence on the grounds of the Wißmar riding and driving club had numerous rotten spots and were already falling apart. "If we had waited any longer, proper operation would no longer have been possible - not to mention the visual impact on visitors during public events or tournaments," explains first chairman Martin Bogner. With the support of Stadtwerke Gießen (SWG), several club members renewed the fence on Saturday 20 April. The company donated 500 euros towards the purchase of new posts. Reiner Klinkel from the Technical Services department at SWG also helped to tear down the old fence and erect the new one. "Equestrian sport is one of my great passions, which I share with my children. My whole family is a member of the Wißmar Riding and Driving Club and I have been a member of the board for around ten years. For this reason, I knew only too well that the fence was due for renewal," says Reiner Klinkel. He then suggested helping the association as part of the 75 good deeds. Before the work began last Saturday, he handed over a donation cheque for 500 euros to the first chairman Martin Bogner. He was certain: "Now we have a few more years of peace and quiet and it's not just the dressage horses that are looking good."
