The trade union ver.di has once again called for a warning strike in local transport on Friday and Saturday. As a result, city buses will run on the Saturday timetable on Friday.
The trade union ver.di has announced another warning strike in local transport for tomorrow Friday and the following Saturday. As a result, bus drivers from Stadtwerke Giessen (SWG) will also be on strike from Friday, 1 March 2024 from the start of the shift until the end of the late shift on Saturday. Such a warning strike will naturally have a noticeable impact on bus operations.
Those responsible at SWG have reacted to the announcement and made a decision in the interests of their passengers: Tomorrow, Friday, the buses will run according to the Saturday timetable. Although this will lead to certain restrictions, it will ensure the best possible planning. Depending on the availability of drivers, SWG will offer the usual extra journeys on school days. In addition, SWG and its subsidiary MIT.BUS are doing everything in their power to run buses according to the regular Saturday timetable despite the strike on Saturday. Important to know: The bus timetable in the surrounding area is not affected by the strike.
Further disruptions expected
In addition to the warning strike, there will be a Fridays for Future rally in Giessen city centre on Friday. Around 800 participants have registered to march from Berliner Platz via Neuen Bäue, Schulstraße, Marktplatz, Neustadt, Oswaldsgarten, Westanlage, Selterstor, Seltersweg, Kreuzplatz, Mäusburg, Marktplatz, Schulstraße and Neuen Bäue back to Berliner Platz in front of the town hall between 3.55 pm and 6.45 pm. Due to this demonstration, there will most likely be traffic obstructions, which will mean that the buses will not be able to keep to the times stated in the timetable.
SWG asks all passengers for their understanding and apologises for any inconvenience caused. SWG will of course publicise all strike-related changes via the dynamic passenger information systems at the stops and transmit all information to RMV as quickly as possible for up-to-date electronic timetable information. SWG also keeps its passengers up to date on its website: www.swg-verkehr.de
All information on timetable changes is also available at the RMV mobility centre in Giessen on the market square, by telephone on 0641 708-1400 or online at www.swg-verkehr.de. Opening hours of the Giessen mobility centre in the SWG customer centre: Mondays to Fridays from 9 am to 6 pm.
