Stadtwerke Gießen will be involved in the "Mittelhessen Cup" running series in future. They signed a corresponding sponsorship agreement with the organisers at the end of November.

From 2016, Stadtwerke Gießen (SWG) will be supporting the "Mittelhessen Cup" as a partner. The running series, which has established itself in the region since its first edition in 1997, is being jointly organised by eleven clubs from the districts of Giessen, Lahn-Dill and Marburg-Biedenkopf for the first time this year. The clubs founded the Mittelhessen-Cup GbR for this purpose. The aim of the reorganisation is to make the running series even more professional and attractive.
On 27 November, SWG company spokesperson Ina Weller, Stephanie Orlik from SWG Marketing Services, Martin Seipp, Managing Director of Mittelhessen-Cup GbR, and Thilo Gernandt from Mittelhessen-Cup GbR met at SWG's main building to sign a contract to seal the collaboration. Martin Seipp emphasised: "Having such a strong partner at our side gives us security and helps us a lot with the organisation. We are delighted to have Stadtwerke Gießen on board for the Mittelhessen Cup."

Appealing to young runners
With a newly designed website, their own Facebook presence and an app, the clubs want to draw the attention of an even broader spectrum of runners to the Cup in future. In addition to online registration, the website offers up-to-date information on all running events and the status of the series ranking. "By having a broad online presence, we want to appeal to young runners in particular and thus significantly increase the number of participants," emphasised Martin Seipp.

Promoting sport locally
Stadtwerke Gießen is particularly keen to promote regional sport. In addition to the football summer camp for children and young people, the company has supported numerous teams and sporting events in Central Hesse for many years, including the running events that have now given rise to the Central Hesse Cup. SWG was also involved this year as a presenter and main sponsor of both the Hessian State Gymnastics Festival and the German Gymnastics Championships in October.
"We see ourselves not only as a traditional utility company that reliably supplies its customers with electricity, gas and water, but also fulfil our responsibility to drive developments in the region. That's why, among other things, we focus on long-term support for clubs and events," explained Ina Weller. Stephanie Orlik added that the commitment to the Mittelhessen Cup fits in perfectly with SWG's strategy: "We hope that the race will continue to establish itself in the coming years and inspire both athletes and spectators. Stadtwerke Gießen would like to contribute to this."
