The sports club (SV) 1946 Dorf-Güll e.V. is pleased to have fresh colours in its clubhouse. The recreation room, kitchen, drinks room and staircase to the changing rooms have been given a new coat of paint - and Stadtwerke Gießen (SWG) is taking part in the project. Heinz Zwirner from the Energy and Water Networks department at SWG had the idea of supporting the sports club with one of the 75 good deeds in SWG's anniversary year.
A matter close to Heinz Zwirner's heart, as he has held the office of 1st Chairman of SV Dorf-Güll for over 25 years. He explains: "The younger members don't know the clubhouse any differently. The last coat of paint was around 30 years ago and it's urgently time for a new one." The work can start soon. SWG recently donated money for materials and paint. Heinz Zwirner presented the cheque for a new coat of paint to the treasurer of SV Dorf-Güll, Waldemar Span: "We still have to get to work with brushes and paint rollers, but we are already looking forward to our clubhouse soon shining in new splendour. Our club members and families will certainly feel at home here," says Waldemar Span confidently.
The sports club uses the rooms for team meetings, for example, or sells drinks and sausages there when football matches take place on the neighbouring sports field. The club shows special sporting events - such as the Champions League final - on a large screen in the recreation room. In August, the active footballers will be back in action - until then, the volunteers have time to spruce up the clubhouse.
