Eleven teams and the minis of the Großen-Buseck/Beuern handball club (HSG) train regularly in the Willy-Czech-Halle in Beuern for league matches and tournaments - now with 30 new balls, donated by Stadtwerke Gießen (SWG). "Some of our balls are clearly showing their age, as we can only replace some of them after each season - and only with balls that were previously used in league matches," explains Gernot Nasswetter, Head of Sport on the HSG board. He is all the more pleased about the help from SWG and personally thanked Nina Becker, who works in customer services at the municipal utility company. The SWG employee had the idea of supporting the 170 or so active handball players from Großen-Buseck and Beuern - including 135 children and young people - with one of the 75 good deeds. Nina Becker has played for HSG herself since her youth - now in the first women's team - and was therefore aware of the need for new balls: "Clubs like HSG Großen-Buseck/Beuern make an enormously important contribution to popular sport with their programmes. However, this is not always easy, as there is not enough money for many purchases. Stadtwerke Giessen wants to help these clubs in particular with its 75 good deeds."
On Monday, 1 July, Nina Becker presented Gernot Nasswetter and HSG Youth Director Jürgen Reissner with the symbolic donation cheque for 30 new handballs.
