Stadtwerke Gießen AG (SWG) is starting to extend the district heating network in the Sonnenstraße, Schlossgasse and Kanzleiberg areas. The work to connect these streets to the Giessen heating supply will begin next Monday. The Giessen-based energy and water supplier is laying 240 metres of district heating pipe so that residents can also use the SWG district heating supply in future. As part of this construction project, the municipal utilities are connecting Giessen Castle to the district heating network with a house connection.
Planned construction work
In the first construction phase, the houses from Schlossgasse to Kanzleiberg will be connected. During the second construction phase, starting in mid-June, the Kanzleiberg area will be connected to the Giessen district heating network up to Sonnenstrasse.
Part of the carriageway closed
The pipework will be laid in the road area. For this reason, the carriageway in the area of the construction site will be closed at times. The construction work should be completed by the beginning of July. In this context, Stadtwerke asks for your understanding for any traffic obstructions that may occur.
Interest in district heating
SWG is expecting a large number of people interested in securing the benefits of a district heating supply. Those who opt for district heating do not need a separate boiler room. The elimination of individual firing systems in the area of district heating
district heating supply significantly reduces pollutant emissions. There is no need for in-house fuel storage. Anyone wishing to find out more about the district heating supply can call the service hotline on 0180 22 11 100 from Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
