Topic Building site power supply

The subsidiary of Stadtwerke Gießen AG (SWG), Mittelhessen Netz GmbH (MIT.N), organised a one-day seminar for specialists from electrical installation companies at the weekend. The aim of the training course is to enable electricians to independently connect building site power connections to the MIT.N power grid in future.

Bernd Debus, MIT.N's master electrician, responded to the requests from electrical companies and trained 16 participants in the first one-day seminar. The electricians were provided with protective equipment and the necessary tools to safely carry out work on cable distributors and low-voltage scaffolding. Who hasn't experienced this? The completion deadline on the construction site has to be met - things can get hectic. "But nothing is more important than safety during the entire construction project," explained Bernd Debus. During the seminar, the participants learnt about the legal background, accident prevention, the rules of the employers' liability insurance association and the technical regulations. Bernd Debus also familiarised the audience with the structure of the network and billing with the customer and the energy supplier. Before each participant had to pass a theoretical final test, the programme included practical exercises: connecting construction site distributors to cable distributors and house junction boxes.

Electrical installation companies that successfully attended the seminar will be able to respond more quickly to customer enquiries in future and establish contact with potential customers in the initial phase of a new build.

Repeat seminar

Due to the high demand and the limited number of participants, MIT.N is organising another one-day seminar on this topic. The repeat seminar will take place on Saturday, 16 August 2008 from 08:30 to 17:00 on the SWG premises. Professionals who would like to register now can do so by telephone on 0641 708-1489 or by e-mail to bdebus@mit-n.de.
