Next Sunday, the Stadtwerke Gießen AG (SWG) city buses will be making their last rounds of the market square. From Monday, 31 January 2005, the market square will be closed due to construction work. All lines that previously crossed the market square will then take the diversion from Berliner Platz via Südanlage, Selterstor in the direction of Frankfurter Straße or Westanlage/ Nordanlage. Line 24 (Gießen-Wetzlar) will run from the railway station via Westanlage - stops Bahnhofstraße and Mühlstraße - to Oswaldsgarten. The Selterstor stop will be used in the direction of the railway station. During the redesign of the market square, not only the Marktplatz stop will be cancelled, but also the Stadttheater, Oswaldsgarten, City Center and Katharinengasse stops. Instead, SWG will increasingly use the bus stops Johanneskirche, Mühlstraße and Bahnhofstraße (in front of Hotel Kübel only in the direction of Oswaldsgarten) and the Johanneskirche stop in the direction of Berliner Platz cannot be served for the time being. Stadtwerke regrets that the onset of winter in the past few days has prevented the timely completion of the construction work in the Südanlage area. Until the construction work is completed, passengers travelling on lines 3, 7, 12, 800-802 can use the Mühlstraße and Berliner Platz stops in the direction of Berliner Platz. Passengers on lines 1, 2, 5, 10A, 10B and 11 can use the Liebigstraße and Berliner Platz or Behördenzentrum stops. For city buses crossing the Lahnbrücke bridge (lines 7, 12, 24 and 800 - 802), the Mühlstraße stop in the direction of Weststadt will be relocated at the Oswaldsgarten railway station, although journey times will remain the same. For some lines, the diversion will even save time. During the initial period of the new routing, city assistants will be present on the changed routes to help passengers with any questions they may have. Information about the diversion timetable is displayed on the city buses. Further information about the new route is available from Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the mobility centre in the infoCentre on Marktplatz. The diversions timetable is also available there, together with the timetable book that has been valid since the timetable change in December. If you wish, you can also find information about the route on the Internet at www.stadtwerke-giessen.de and www.rmv.de. General information about the construction work, which is scheduled to last until the end of the year, is available from the Giessen city planning and civil engineering office. Stadtwerke assures that the impact on passengers will be minimised as far as possible, but asks for your understanding for any traffic disruptions or delays.
