We've all been there: one diet follows the next - but there's no sign of long-term success. If the weight doesn't come off, you simply eat less. But "if you eat too little during a diet and don't exercise, you do yourself double harm," says Franca Mangiameli, a nutritionist and author from Giessen. "The basal metabolic rate goes into overdrive in order to utilise the calories as much as possible. It also breaks down proteins from the muscles to utilise them for energy production. It is precisely muscles that melt our body fat." A successful weight loss concept must therefore protect the muscles, be easy to implement in everyday life, taste good and be filling. "Only those who don't feel hungry when losing weight will be able to keep it up," explains Mangiameli.
Incorporating exercise is also essential for optimum weight loss success. Exercise increases the basal metabolic rate, reduces stress and ensures that you burn more even when you are at rest. Mangiameli has been working for many years with the LOGI method, which stands for "low glycaemic and insulinemic diet", a nutritional concept to promote low blood sugar and insulin levels. It is a low-carb diet with less bread, potatoes and pasta, which is rich in filling foods such as protein (fish, meat, milk, eggs, etc.) and fibre (fruit, vegetables, pulses). Eating enough and still losing weight is not a contradiction with LOGI, but the basic principle. The concept is simple and does away with the need for tedious calorie counting and weighing, as well as strict adherence to a diet plan. Simple combination rules make losing weight easier and can be implemented anywhere. The stars in the USA have been leading the way for a long time. LOGI fever has now also infected 370,000 people in Germany.
Renowned specialist journals and globally recognised research institutes confirm this: Low-carb shows greater weight loss success and better health effects than the calorie-reduced, low-fat diet still recommended today. "A rethink is urgently needed," says Mangiameli, who has already written various books on the LOGI method and trains doctors throughout Germany with Prof Dr Nicolai Worm.
Stadtwerke Gießen AG (SWG) is offering the popular Aqua Fitness sports programme for the 5th time as an ideal complement to the nutritional concept. It ensures a high energy turnover and boosts the metabolism and fat burning. The highly efficient training is easy on the joints, fun and increases your well-being. In combination with LOGI, aqua fitness is ideal for anyone who wants to reduce their weight.
You can lose weight, get fit and update your nutritional knowledge in the 8-week weight loss group course that combines LOGI with aqua fitness.
