From Monday, 2 March, the city buses on line 5 of Stadtwerke Gießen AG (SWG) will take a diversion between Marktplatz and the railway station. Due to construction work, Bahnhofstraße will be closed in both directions from Monday morning until probably October 2009.
Diversion
The diversion route will take line 5 in both directions via Westanlage and Neustadt. In the direction of the railway station, the City Center stop will be cancelled. The Oswaldsgarten and Selterstor stops will be used instead. In the direction of Wieseck, the Katharinengasse stop will be cancelled. Passengers can get on and off at the Bahnhofstraße and Oswaldsgarten stops. The 07:06 journey of the emergency vehicle coming from Lützellinden will also be affected: from 07:31, the emergency vehicle will travel from the Liebigstraße stop via Johanneskirche to Berliner Platz. The departure times at 07:32 from the Katharinengasse stop and at 07:34 from Marktplatz will be cancelled. The Venus night bus route is also affected by the closure of Bahnhofstraße. The night bus route runs from the Berliner Platz stop via Johanneskirche to the railway station.
Passengers can obtain further information by calling 0641 708-1400 or at the mobility centre in the infoZentrum on Marktplatz. The mobility centre is open Monday to Friday from 09:00 to 18:00 and on Saturdays from 09:00 to 14:00. Stadtwerke asks its passengers for their understanding in the event of any delays.
