LAZ Gießen and SWG extend partnership

SWG and the Giessen Athletics Centre are working together for another three years.

Over the past 40 years or so, an association of eleven regional sports clubs in Central Hesse has developed into a real authority for talent development and competitive sport: the Giessen Athletics Centre (LAZ). Its athletes regularly achieve great success - in Hesse, but also nationwide. And time and again, talented athletes from the ranks of the LAZ make the leap into the national elite. However, the club's activities go far beyond excellent training and numerous competitions. In fact, dedicated members organise their own events - including the traditional New Year's Eve run. In short: the LAZ shapes the sports landscape and especially the athletics scene in the city and district.

Stadtwerke Gießen (SWG) has supported the LAZ since 2003. The two partners recently extended this co-operation by three years. "The LAZ is a permanent fixture in regional sport and also does outstanding work in the area of youth development. We want to continue to support this," explains Ulli Boos, company spokesperson for SWG.

By continuing the co-operation, SWG is sending out a clear signal. "The support of Stadtwerke Gießen is invaluable to us," explains Markus Czech, Chairman of the sponsorship association and Managing Director of LAZ Gießen, adding: "Without sponsors like SWG, many of our programmes would simply not be possible. We need such reliable partners in order to be able to do our work. We are therefore grateful that SWG continues to support us financially."
