From Sunday, 23 September, from around 8 a.m., buses on routes 800, 801 and 802 in the direction of Giessen will take an alternative route from the West substation. The reason for this is the renewal of the road surface in Krofdorfer Straße, which will be closed on one side until around mid-October and only open to traffic travelling out of town. In the direction of Westschule or Wettenberg, buses will continue to stop at all bus stops as usual, with the exception of the Leimenkauter Weg stop. The Leimenkauter Weg stop will be relocated to the level of the EDEKA drinks store.

Alternative route towards the city centre
The buses on routes 800, 801 and 802 will travel towards the city centre from Umspannwerk West via Wilhelm-Leuschner-Straße, Alter Krofdorfer Weg, Schützenstraße and Zur Großen Bleiche to the Gleiberger Weg stop. "This route is exclusively for buses. There is therefore a barrier with a card reader at Carlo-Mierendorff-Straße," explains Anne Müller-Kreutz, Head of Local Transport Services at Stadtwerke Gießen (SWG).
The stops Westschule, Carlo-Mierendorff-Straße, Hochhäuser and Leimenkauter Weg cannot be approached in the direction of the city centre. SWG has therefore set up two replacement stops on the diversion route - on Wilhelm-Leuschner-Straße at Carlo-Mierendorff-Straße and on Alter Krofdorfer Weg immediately before the junction with Leimenkauter Weg.
For buses that only run on the route between the city centre and Westschule, the route will be changed from the Hochhäuser stop. They will leave the city centre via Krofdorfer Straße, turn into Wilhelm-Leuschner-Straße at Umspannwerk West and then head back into the city centre via the diversion route for bus traffic - with a stopover at the two replacement stops at Carlo-Mierendorff-Straße and Leimenkauter Weg. Due to the change in the route, the Carlo-Mierendorff-Straße and Westschule stops will be cancelled.
