Stadtwerke Gießen AG (SWG) organised an information event to familiarise employees of installation companies with the new technical connection conditions. The municipal utilities placed hygienically safe drinking water at the centre of the information evening. Wolfgang Döring, Head of SWG Meter Management, explained that water supply companies and installation companies must fulfil high standards to ensure a safe drinking water supply.
Hygiene-conscious planning, execution, operation and maintenance of drinking water systems are of enormous importance. This is the only way for the water supplier to deliver flawless drinking water quality. Not to be forgotten are the regular, professional analyses of the water by independent institutions.
Guest speaker Dr Gisela Friedrich from Giessen's public health department explained what is important for domestic installations and which regulations regarding the Drinking Water Ordinance must be observed.
The topic of drinking water hygiene was rounded off with a presentation by Harald Kümmel, Technical and Sales Consultant at Oventrop GmbH & Co. KG from Olsberg.
Another topic discussed during the event was pricing. Ina Weller, Head of Marketing and Sales at SWG, commented on the fixed oil price, the gas price increase currently being discussed in the media and showed where SWG stands in the regional energy and water price comparison.
In addition, the municipal utilities also informed the installation companies about the new subsidy programme for converting heating systems.
The aim of this subsidy programme is to save energy in order to reduce heating costs and protect the climate and resources in the long term.
