Together with the Giessen studio for nutritional counselling, Stadtwerke Giessen is launching an eight-week seminar on healthy weight loss from mid-February. This consists of a course-accompanying change in diet with nutritionist and specialist author Franca Mangiameli and a joint-friendly aqua biking course at the Ringallee swimming centre. For those interested, there will be an information evening on 31 January at 7 p.m. in the main building of Stadtwerke Gießen in Lahnstraße 31. Admission is free.
The so-called Top Forming 2 nutrition concept is now entering its second round in 2011. The Top Forming method, which was completely revised last year, is now primarily aimed at keeping blood sugar and insulin levels low and focuses on a low-carbohydrate diet with little bread, potatoes and pasta and lots of protein-rich, filling foods such as fish, meat, milk and eggs. Fruit, vegetables and pulses, as well as healthy fats, are added as vitamin-rich sources of fibre. Top Forming 2 does not involve strict calorie counting; instead, the method aims to help course participants regain control over their own eating behaviour in the long term.
