The Ringallee bathing centre will start the 2010/2011 sauna and indoor pool season on Monday, 23 August. During the summer break, Stadtwerke Gießen had previously worked hard on the wellness area on the first floor of the bathing centre. The wet area of the saunas was given a new ceiling and the steam bath was also renovated.
Both are heavily burdened by the humidity and heat of the steam. The extension to the sun deck has not yet been completed. Sauna guests still have to live with restrictions here.
However, SWG is not only focussing on the visual upgrade alone, but also on new offers and different sauna times. The latter will initially be subject to a transitional arrangement in the coming week before the new opening times come into effect. These will include the so-called "Sparfuchssauna" on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 12 noon with reduced admission. Another new feature is a student rate that applies on Thursdays and Fridays from 6 pm, as well as an additional time slot for mixed saunas on Thursdays from 6 pm. Changing special offers in the wellness area and additional events such as the well-known sauna nights on the last Saturday of every month round off the programme as usual. The prices for bathing and sauna sessions are otherwise the same as in the previous indoor pool season.
In the week of the reopening of the indoor pool, however, the focus will once again be on the outdoor pool in the Ringallee bathing centre: On Sunday 29 August, it will provide the setting for a very special sporting event. This is where the athletes of the Giessen Triathlon will be swimming their laps - hopefully cheered on by as many fans as possible.
The outdoor pool will remain open for the time being, depending on the weather conditions.
