Yesterday morning, numerous owners and enthusiasts of classic cars gathered on the premises of Stadtwerke Gießen AG (SWG). The reason for the meeting was the planned classic car convoy from the SWG premises to Wettenberg/Krofdorf-Gleiberg.
At eleven o'clock, the convoy of around 30 classic cars set off for the 15th Golden Oldies Festival. The convoy was led by the mayor of Wettenberg, Gerhard Schmidt. The two board members of SWG, Manfred Siekmann and Reinhard Paul, also took a ride in this collector's item. The two SWG board members travelled to Krofdorf-Gleiberg in a Mercedes Benz 170 S Cabrio B with 52 hp and an engine capacity of 1767 cc. The vintage car from 1950 belongs to Frank Werner from Linden and has already taken part in the Oldtimer-Hessen-Fahrt event, and the municipal utilities are once again supporting the traditional event this year and enthusiastically agreed to the mayor's idea of having a convoy set off. Technology and technical developments always play an important role for a traditional energy and water supplier like the municipal utility. On this day, the classic cars and their technology from times gone by were the centre of attention for the two board members, as the vehicles set off with the classic car convoy on the last day of the three-day festival in Wettenberg. The motto of this year's traditional event was: Luxury - Lifestyle - Limousines.
