Classic cars started at Stadtwerke

On Sunday, numerous owners and enthusiasts of classic cars gathered on the premises of Stadtwerke Gießen AG (SWG). The reason for the meeting was the planned classic car convoy from Giessen to Wettenberg/Krofdorf-Gleiberg. The convoy of over 30 classic cars set off at 11 a.m. for the 17th Golden Oldies Festival. The convoy was led by the Mayor of Wettenberg, Gerhard Schmidt. The Chairman of the SWG Management Board, Manfred Siekmann, and his colleague on the Management Board, Reinhard Paul, also made the journey in a collector's item. The two SWG board members and their wives travelled to Krofdorf-Gleiberg in a Mercedes Benz 170 S Cabrio B from 1950 and a Mercedes Benz 280 SE Coupe. The vintage car from 1950 belongs to Frank Werner from Linden. The coupé belongs to Martin Röder.

This is the fourth time that the classic car convoy from the energy supplier has travelled to the traditional festival. The classic car owners are still enthusiastic about the idea of travelling to Wettenberg in a convoy. This weekend, the attention of the SWG management was focussed on the classic cars and their technology from times gone by.

The classic car convoy set off on the last day of the three-day festival in Wettenberg. The motto of this year's traditional event was: Hits, highlights and rarities.
