In an online lecture from the "Energy Knowledge on Tuesday" series on 25 June, an expert from Stadtwerke Gießen will provide information on the topic of sustainable energy consumption.
Education that's fun: Can a top athlete generate enough energy to toast a slice of white bread? These and other questions will be answered in the new lecture from the "Energy Knowledge on Tuesday" series. The topic this time: Sustainable energy consumption. A video shows the effort that a well-trained track sprinter actually has to exert to brown the bread. "The experiment impressively conveys how much energy we often consume thoughtlessly in everyday life," summarises Moritz Müller, energy consultant at Stadtwerke Gießen (SWG).
Everyday examples, practical tips
One aim of the presentation is to ensure that terms such as watt and kilowatt hour no longer remain abstract parameters. The terms are explained using everyday examples and the audience is actively involved. The lecture repeatedly returns to the fundamental question: How much energy do we use? And how long would our athlete have to pedal to achieve this performance? "Only those who know their consumption can control it," summarises Moritz Müller.
SWG offers energy meters for hire to help you find out how much each appliance in your home consumes. The small, portable devices measure the power consumption of electrical household appliances. This makes it very easy to identify power guzzlers.
So that the audience can apply the knowledge they have learnt in their everyday lives, there are also practical energy-saving tips that will noticeably reduce their own consumption. "There are a whole range of small measures that anyone can implement immediately at home," emphasises Moritz Müller.
Register now for the online lecture
"Energy knowledge on Tuesday" is an online offer from the SWG energy advice centre. If you would like to attend the lecture on "Sustainable energy consumption - options for optimisation" on 25 June at 5.30 pm, please register at energieberatung@stadtwerke-giessen.de by 23 June. SWG will send out a participation link in good time before the event. It goes without saying that this format also ensures a dialogue with the expert giving the presentation.
