Stadtwerke Gießen took part in Girls' Day for the ninth time yesterday, 14 April, and gave 20 schoolgirls from years 5 to 8 an insight into the world of energy supply at its training centre in Lahnstraße. The nationwide and annual Girls' Day aims to make it easier for girls to gain a foothold in professions in which they have rarely been represented to date. At SWG, the focus was on the training professions of plant mechanic, electronics technician for operating technology specialising in energy and building technology and automotive mechatronics technician. The students were able to test their manual skills and technical understanding at the training centre.
SWG trainers Peter Zeizinger, Hagen Luh, Ralf Schlesinger and Ruth Biehl-Franze introduced the students to the various areas of work in the metal, electrical and automotive sectors. Not only the trainers themselves were available to answer questions, but also the trainees who are already completing a technical apprenticeship at Stadtwerke Gießen. The girls were thus able to find out more about everyday work and training at SWG.
Anyone who didn't get enough of a taste of SWG during Girls' Day 2011 or who was unable to take part should look for an internship at Stadtwerke. An internship gives you a comprehensive look behind the scenes of the respective professional fields.
