Tariff and timetable change on 14 December 2008

This year's fare and timetable change in the Rhine-Main Transport Association (RMV) will take place on Sunday, 14 December 2008.

Changes to fares and sales

Despite higher energy costs, the Rhein-Main-Verkehrsverbund is only increasing its prices by an average of 2.9% for the fare change. This means that buses and trains continue to be very attractively priced mobility options.

This increase also affects the Giessen city bus fares. The single ticket for adults will increase from 1.45 euros to 1.50 euros. In future, the monthly ticket will cost 33.70 euros instead of 32.70 euros. In future, monthly travelcards for trainees can be purchased for 27.50 euros. The 9 o'clock ticket will increase in price from 27.90 euros to 28.70 euros. The price of the Gießenpass single ticket will remain at 0.75 euros. The monthly ticket will increase from 17.20 euros to 17.70 euros. Pupils and trainees will pay 13.80 euros for their monthly ticket instead of 13.40 euros.

The annual tickets for everyone and the CleverCard for schoolchildren and trainees remain particularly favourable for frequent travellers. If you pay monthly, the following applies to the annual pass: travel for twelve months and pay for ten months; for the CleverCard: travel for twelve months and pay for eight months.

Changes to the timetable:

Changes to the Stadtwerke Gießen AG (SWG) city bus timetable relate on the one hand to journey time adjustments between various stops in the route network. The deployment and departure times of the reinforcement vehicles have been adapted to demand.

SWG has summarised what is new after the timetable change for its customers:

Line 1:

Change in departure times between Jo-hanneskirche and Schubertstraße in the direction of Allen-dorf/Lützellinden.

Line 2:

Change of departure times between Lutherberg and Berliner Platz in the direction of the railway station. Adjustment of journey times during off-peak times in Rendez-vous traffic.

Lines 3 and 13:

Change in departure times between Tulpenweg and Schwarzlachweg. Journey time adjustment during off-peak hours in Rendez-vous traffic.

Lines 5 and 15:

Change in departure times between Landgericht and Marktplatz. In the early morning peak between 06:50 and 07:45, the number of journeys has been extended. The 12:03 journey from Katharinengasse to Wie-seck has been cancelled. The timetable for line 15 has been adjusted so that in future there will be a 7-8 minute interval between the authority centre and Wieseck at peak times.

Line 7:

Journey time adjustment during off-peak times in Rendez-vous traffic. The direct bus from the Herder School at 12:55 pm has been cancelled.

Line 801:

Change in departure times from the Pistorstraße stop to Berliner Platz. In future, the 07:08 bus from Wißmar will continue from Westschule via Marktplatz, Ostschule to Pistorstraße and not via Marktplatz, Schiffenberger Weg to Rathenaustraße as before. The journeys at 15:55 and 17:55 from Rathenaustraße will be operated with 2 articulated trains if required. The journeys to Westschule that deviate from the regular route of line 801 will be cancelled.

Line 802:

Change of departure times between Liebigschule and Berliner Platz. The bus at 07:15 from Krofdorf-Gleiberg no longer runs via Ostschule to Rathenaustraße as before, but already at 07:08 via Berliner Platz, Schiffenberger Weg to Rathenaustraße.

SWG employees are available to answer any questions on the subject of mobility at the mobility centre in the infoCentre on Marktplatz. The mobility centre is open Monday to Friday from 09:00 to 18:00 and on Saturdays from 09:00 to 14:00. The new timetable booklet will also be available there next week for 1.80 euros.
