With the start of the school year on 28 August, many pupils will also be faced with the question of transport to school. Stadtwerke Gießen AG (SWG) has attractive season ticket offers for all those travelling by bus, and with the annual school travelcard, pupils can be mobile until the end of the new school year. The offer includes two variants. There are also payment options. The card can be purchased as a subscription with monthly direct debit or as a one-off payment.
Annual school travelcard XL
The SchülerjahresKarte XL is valid during the school year for journeys between home and school. It includes free travel during the school holidays in the respective district. With the SchülerjahresKarte XL, pupils are also mobile during the holidays.
Annual school travelcard XXL
The annual school travelcard XXL offers even more mobility. During term time, the card is valid between home and school. During the holidays, it entitles the holder to travel throughout the entire Rhein-Main-Verkehrsverbund.Schülerjahreskarten are always valid from 1 August of a year until 31 July of the current school year. However, it is possible to join the RMV offer at any time up to 1 February 2006. Only the remaining months are then paid for. The annual school travelcard XL subscription is available for the city of Giessen at a price of 225.15 euros, from 1 September the ticket will cost 206.25 euros. In comparison, the monthly pass for pupils for the city area costs 23.70 euros. Anyone who decides to use a monthly pass also needs a valid customer card. Experience has shown that the mobility centre on Marktplatz is always very busy when school starts. This is why pupils should use the last week of the school holidays to check the validity of their customer card, regardless of whether they want to benefit from the attractive offer of the annual school travelcard or whether they need a new customer card. The staff at the mobility centre are available Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. to provide comprehensive advice.
