A few days ago, customers of Stadtwerke Gießen (SWG) received false invoices from an alleged energy service provider in Bremen. Ulli Boos, Head of Marketing at SWG, warns: "This is presumably an attempt at fraud." The letter asks recipients to transfer money to a bank account for work carried out on the electricity meter. The sender also recommends making use of this service every year.
"The letter does not come from us and we have nothing to do with this company from Bremen. Our customers should therefore not pay under any circumstances and contact us directly if they receive a letter of this kind," recommends Ulli Boos.
Customers can contact SWG on the service number 0800 23 02 100 (free of charge from the German landline network and all German mobile networks) and at the SWG customer centre on Marktplatz as well as by email at info@stadtwerke-giessen.de.
