Five trainees at Stadtwerke Gießen (SWG) recently passed their final exams and are now embarking on the next stage of their careers.
On Wednesday 3 July, Manfred Siekmann and Reinhard Paul, members of the Management Board of Stadtwerke Gießen (SWG), SWG Human Resources Manager Hans-Jürgen Schulz, SWG training managers Ruth Biehl-Franze and Hagen Luh and Deputy Works Council Chairman Udo Handloser presented five trainees with their final certificates and congratulated them on passing their exams.
Lisa Knecht from Biebertal and Marcel Möser from Mücke have qualified as industrial clerks. Björn Pfarr from Reiskirchen can now call himself an electronics technician for industrial engineering. Mareike Kammer from Nidda graduated as an office communications clerk and Alexander Marx from Friedberg passed the examination to become a pool attendant. Three of the five former trainees will remain with SWG for at least the next twelve months. They have already signed a contract to this effect.
Skilled workers from the region for the region
Training is one of the key elements of SWG's strategy. "The skilled workers and specialists that we will need in the company and the region in the future are recruited from our junior staff," explains Ruth Biehl-Franze. Among other things, Stadtwerke operates a modern training centre for technical apprenticeships. Ruth Biehl-Franze knows from experience: "The high level of practical relevance, being able to try things out for themselves and implementing their own projects in the group - that's what young people appreciate about the training centre."
SWG regularly provides information about the entire spectrum of training occupations at schools in Giessen and the Central Hesse region as well as during the "Chance" training fair, which takes place in the Hessenhallen at the beginning of each year. Stadtwerke also provides round-the-clock information on the subject of training on its website at www.stadtwerke-giessen.de. Interested parties can also find a short film there that gives them an insight into everyday training at SWG.
