New subsidy programme from Stadtwerke Gießen

Mobile with natural gas. While petrol and diesel are becoming more and more expensive, it is worth considering an alternative fuel. And that alternative is natural gas. Driving with natural gas is now even more attractive: Stadtwerke Gießen AG (SWG) is once again offering a subsidy programme for natural gas drivers.

Michael Rösner, Head of Private and Commercial Customer Sales at SWG, presented the subsidy programme at the BAU-Expo.

Anyone who opts for the SWG subsidy programme will pay only half the current price for fuel at the Aral natural gas filling station at Marburger Straße 229 in Giessen for one year. All series-produced natural gas vehicles with a new registration from 1 March 2009 are eligible for the promotion. 50% discount can be claimed by affixing a "I drive on natural gas" sticker to the vehicle. This quickly makes it clear who is travelling with the environmentally friendly fuel natural gas.

The advantages

The favourable price and environmental benefits favour natural gas as a fuel. Compared to petrol and diesel vehicles, vehicles optimised for natural gas are characterised by very low pollutant emissions. Not only the environment benefits, but also the wallet of the owner of such a vehicle. With natural gas in the tank, you save up to 50 % compared to petrol. Compared to diesel, savings of up to 35% can be made. Until 2018, natural gas drivers will also benefit from favourable tax treatment.

A direct comparison shows how far drivers can get with 20 euros:

Natural gas 425 km

LPG 295 km

Diesel 272 km

Super petrol 197 km
