Saturday 7 June will see the highlight of this year's outdoor pool season in the Ringallee, the SWG Water Adventure Day for the State Garden Show. Numerous attractions await visitors young and old - from a water Olympics for young swimmers to a dragon boat competition in the swimmers' pool.
On Saturday, 7 June, visitors to the Ringallee bathing centre can look forward to a very special premiere: the first outdoor dragon boat cup in Giessen. The teams will compete against each other in the large pool and paddle for victory in a special mode. "A special kind of competition that promises a lot of excitement. But the dragon boat tug-of-war is by no means the only highlight," promises Ina Weller, company spokesperson for Stadtwerke Gießen (SWG).
The municipal utilities have put together a programme with numerous attractions for 7 June, the SWG Water Experience Day at the State Garden Show. Between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m., there will be something to discover at every corner of the outdoor pool area - young and old fans of the "cool water" will get their money's worth.
Water Olympics: Being there is everything
The new water playground at the Ringallee outdoor pool has been very popular for almost a year - with children, teenagers and adult bathers alike. A water forest, a small pond, watercourses and several hand, seesaw and foot pumps guarantee fun and enjoyment in the outdoor pool.
Young bathers can also put their dexterity and speed to the test at the water adventure day. In the Water Olympics, they have to master a special course with obstacles. Participants in the competition can look forward to receiving small gifts.
Clown Ichmael and his team also invite you to join in and play. They will teach children how to juggle, balance and how to make a water balloon. Those who then need a short break from the "cool water" can treat themselves to a bouncy castle or the master builder station with giant legos.
Away from the edge of the pool
On 7 June, everything at the Ringallee outdoor pool revolves around the element of water, but not everything takes place in or near the water. Among other things, SWG will be presenting its offerings for the Ringallee swimming centre on the outdoor pool grounds - visitors can find out about wellness cures, Kneipp treatments, various aqua fitness courses, the sauna area and swimming courses. Another focus is on apprenticeships at Stadtwerke Gießen. Training managers will explain how SWG prepares its trainees for everyday working life. Visitors to the Water Experience Day will learn from the trainees why they decided to start their careers at Stadtwerke.
