Energy knowledge on Tuesday starts again - with district heating
The popular "Energy Knowledge on Tuesday" lecture series continues in 2026. Stadtwerke Gießen will begin with an online lecture on district heating on 31 March 2026.
"Energy Knowledge on Tuesday" is back - with a total of eight lectures on six exciting topics relating to energy efficiency in your own home. The programme kicks off with a topic that couldn't be more topical: District heating. Especially against the backdrop of a debated renewal of the Building Modernisation Act, many people are asking themselves the question: What requirements must a new heating system fulfil? This much can be revealed: In most cases, district heating is an intelligent answer to these questions. "What many people don't realise: District heating from Stadtwerke Gießen automatically fulfils all legal requirements. And is therefore a particularly convenient solution," says Kevin Krempel, energy consultant at Stadtwerke Giessen.
The presentation is aimed specifically at owners of residential buildings and flats. An energy expert from SWG will provide an overview of the development of district heating in Giessen, including an outlook on the planned expansion, and explain why district heating is key to the heating transition in Giessen. He will also explain how the heating technology works and provide specific insights into topics such as the house connection. Of course, the lecture also covers the economic aspect - i.e. the costs for connection and operation as well as the attractive funding opportunities.

"Energy knowledge on Tuesday" is a free online offer from the SWG energy advice centre. The kick-off lecture on district heating will take place on Tuesday, 31 March 2026, at 5.30 pm. Anyone interested can simply register by 29 March at www.stadtwerke-giessen.de/vortraege or by emailing energieberatung@stadtwerke-giessen.de. SWG will send out the necessary participation link in good time before the start. Of course, direct dialogue with the speaker is also guaranteed in online format. There will be enough time for individual questions at the end of the presentation.
