Fast and furious: around 50 football-loving girls and boys swept across the sports field in Pohlheim-Garbenteich at the opening of this year's Stadtwerke Giessen summer football camp. They spent a week showing off their skills on the ball and improving their technique under the guidance of experienced coaches.
Games, fun and team spirit are the motto this week at the Polheim-Garbenteich sports ground. During the summer football camp organised by Stadtwerke Gießen (SWG), ball-loving young athletes aged between six and 15 will be training here. The five-day training camp of the Junior Football Academy Mittelhessen started on Monday, 25 July and once again promises a lot of fun for kids this year.
Technique, tactics, tradition
For the twelfth time, young athletes will be practising dribbling, passing, coordination, goal kicks etc. at the SWG summer football camp. As every year, they will be guided by experienced coaches from the Central Hesse Junior Football Academy, who will teach the children tactical knowledge and new techniques in a fun way. From 25 to 29 July, the young footballers will train daily from 10 am to 3 pm. The budding goalkeepers receive special training, while the outfield players show off their skills on the ball and try to score goals.
Of course, those who are already working out on the pitch in the morning need refreshments. That's why Stadtwerke Giessen will once again be providing a balanced lunch. And drinks will of course also be available at all times.
Before the football camp comes to an end on Friday 29 July with the awarding of certificates and a gift for each child, there will be one more special event at the end of the week - the tournaments and team competitions. Here, the girls and boys in different age groups show what they have learnt during the summer football camp. This year, the young footballers can also look forward to a very special prize: SWG is giving away two tickets for a Bundesliga match among the participants.
