Municipal utilities present newly designed transformer station

On Wednesday, 7 September 2005, dentist Dr Mathias Rinn handed over a donation of 3,000 euros to the Tour of Hope. The transformer station of Stadtwerke Gießen AG (SWG) in Marburger Straße, which had been redesigned in the style of the Tour, provided the perfect setting for the presentation to the public by SWG company spokesperson Ina Weller. The dentist had collected the 3,000 euros in his practice in Heuchelheim over the last 12 months. On behalf of the Tour of Hope, its organisational director Gerhard Becker and sports director Volker Klein as well as two-time rowing world champion Nicole Faust accepted the cheque and thanked Dr Mathias Rinn and his practice team for their commitment. SWG had the transformer station in Marburger Straße redesigned by the graffiti artists from 3steps in the Tour der Hoffnung design. "We will gradually have a whole series of our transformer stations visually revamped. In this way, we want to contribute to the beautification of the cityscape," says Frank Rompf, Head of the Power Supply Systems department at SWG. Further examples of such improvements are the transformer stations in Licher Strasse and Lahnstrasse. The latter was also given a new look by the artists from 3steps.
