Former colleagues at Stadtwerke Gießen (SWG) know Norbert Görke from Trohe as a helpful person who stands up for others. Just a few days ago, he proved once again that this character trait characterises him. After 39 years at SWG, most recently as head of the car workshop, he entered the semi-retirement phase. Norbert Görke decided not to celebrate his retirement. "I thought I'd rather donate this money to a good cause. I'm sure my colleagues at SWG will be pleased too. Many people urgently need help and I think it's important to support charitable organisations in their work," explained the former head of the car workshop, whose son-in-law also works at SWG. Görke donated the 500 euros to the Tour of Hope, which supports children suffering from leukaemia and cancer. This summer marks the 30th time the tour has started in Giessen. When handing over the cheque last Thursday at the headquarters of Stadtwerke Giessen, Gerhard Becker, head of organisation for the tour, emphasised: "We would like to thank Mr Görke very much and hope that this example will inspire many others to do the same."
