Diversions for three bus routes
Due to various roadworks, bus routes 5 and 15, as well as the Venus night bus service, will be diverted.
On 27 July 2026, two construction projects will begin in the north of Giessen, affecting three city bus routes: road resurfacing work is due to take place at the junction of Wiesecker Weg and Dürerstraße. In addition, Stadtwerke Gießen (SWG) will begin work on the district heating network in the area around Grabenstraße, Kornblumenstraße and Niederfeldstraße. This will affect routes 5 and 15, as well as the Venus night bus service.
Route 5 will run in both directions via Marburger Straße, Ludwig-Richter-Straße and Gießener Straße. Consequently, buses will not be able to serve the ‘Theodor-Litt-Schule’, ‘Feuerbachstraße’ and ‘Röderring’ stops. Instead, they will serve the stops ‘Sudetenlandstraße’, ‘Dürerstraße’ and ‘Holbeinring’. When travelling towards the railway station, the stops ‘Albert-Oswald-Platz (alternative)’, ‘Weidigstraße’, ‘Am Eichelbaum’ and ‘Grabenstraße’ will be omitted. Instead, line 5 will serve the ‘Alte Schulstraße’ and ‘Grabenstraße’ stops on Gießener Straße.
Line 15 will also be diverted via Marburger Straße. Consequently, the stops ‘Theodor-Litt-Schule’, ‘Feuerbachstraße’, ‘Röderring’ and ‘Holbeinring’ will not be served. Instead, Line 15 will serve the stops “Sudetenlandstraße” and “Dürerstraße”. These arrangements are expected to remain in place until 21 August 2026.
From 31 July until, provisionally, 16 August 2026, the Venus night bus service will be diverted via Marburger Straße, Ludwig-Richter-Straße and Gießener Straße. As with Line 5, the stops ‘Theodor-Litt-Schule’, ‘Feuerbachstraße’ and ‘Röderring’ will be omitted. Instead, the Venus line will stop at ‘Sudetenlandstraße’, ‘Dürerstraße’ and ‘Holbeinring’. As the night buses are still unable to travel along Rabenauer Straße, they will continue to use Gießener Straße throughout and serve the alternative stops ‘Grabenstraße’ and ‘Alte Schulstraße’.
