Due to a full closure in Alter Steinbacher Weg, Stadtwerke Gießen has to divert route 801.

Giessen. From 9 to 24 October 2021, house connection work will necessitate a full closure of Alter Steinbacher Weg. This will have a direct impact on route 801, which usually runs through this street. Stadtwerke Gießen (SWG) is therefore rerouting route 801 as follows:

For the duration of the Hessian autumn holidays, the buses will not go as far as Pistorstraße, but will terminate at the Philosophikum stop. As the route cannot run via Licher Straße and Alter Steinbacher Weg due to the closure described above, the Nahrungsberg and Ostschule stops will be cancelled. Instead, line 801 will take the route through the Schiffenberger Tal in both directions - in the same way as line 802 - and serve the Sandkauter Weg stop as a replacement for the usual Pistorstraße terminus. From the Sandkauter Weg station to Berliner Platz and in the opposite direction from the authority centre to Sandkauter Weg, the buses run through without stopping. This is the only way that SWG's transport planners can compensate for the significantly longer diversion route and maintain the usual journey times.

Information on the current timetable can be found at www.rmv.de or at www.swg-verkehr.de/fahrplaene.
