Due to a construction site, lines 5 and 15 in the city centre will be routed via a different route.
From 27 April 2022, when operations begin, Stadtwerke Gießen (SWG) will have to reroute lines 5 and 15 in the direction of "Wieseck - Greizer Straße" and "Wieseck - Burgenring". Due to a construction site on the premises of the former Hahn seed house in Reichensand/corner of Bahnhofstraße, the lines can no longer run on the usual route to the market square. From the "Liebigstraße" stop, the buses will run via Westanlage and Neustadt to the "Marktplatz" stop, instead of through Reichensand and Bahnhofstraße as usual. The "Katharinengasse" stop in Reichensand will therefore be cancelled. Alternatively, both lines will serve the "Bahnhofstraße" stop in the Westanlage.
The diversion route slightly extends the journey time. To compensate for this, the buses will depart two minutes earlier from the "Bahnhof" and "Liebigstraße" stops. From the "Marktplatz" stop, the usual departure times apply again. In the opposite direction, everything will remain as usual. The roadworks-related closure of Reichensand is expected to last until December 2022.
