Diversion for bus route 1 and Saturn night bus route
Due to the conversion of the "Waldweide" bus stop, SWG will have to reroute two bus routes.
From Friday, 1 August 2025, the city of Giessen will be having the "Waldweide" stop in Frankfurter Straße, which is located towards the city centre, converted to make it barrier-free. The necessary roadworks will affect the stops there in both directions - they will have to be closed. In addition, the "Waldweide" turning loop will not be available. The conversion is due to be completed on 26 September 2025 - but will affect bus route 1 and the Saturn night bus route until then: From the start of operations on 1 August, journeys on route 1, whose terminus is the "Waldweide" stop, will end and start at the "Schulgärten" stop. All journeys to and from Allendorf and Lützellinden will travel via Frankfurter Straße and Allendorfer Straße to the next stop "Brüder-Grimm-Schule (Süd)". Due to the one-sided closure of Frankfurter Straße for construction work, a construction site traffic light is required to regulate traffic, which usually results in time delays. As a result, bus route 1 is also unable to serve the "Brüder-Grimm-Schule" stop on Lützellindener Straße in both directions.
During the construction period, Stadtwerke Gießen will run the Saturn night bus route to the "Brüder-Grimm-Schule (Süd)" stop. There it will be possible to change to the connecting taxi to the Allendorf and Lützellinden districts. In the direction of Berliner Platz, the night bus cannot travel to the stops "Leihgesterner Weg", "Naturwissenschaften" and "Unterhof" due to the time lost on the diversion. Alternatively, the stops "Petruskirche" in Wartweg and "Röntgenstraße" in Röntgenstraße will be served.
