District heating for Liebigstrasse

From next Monday, SWG will be supplying Liebigstraße with environmentally friendly district heating.

Stadtwerke Gießen (SWG) is consistently pressing ahead with the expansion of the district heating network. On Monday, 22 September, SWG will begin laying the pipes required for the future-oriented heat supply in Liebigstraße between Ebelstraße and Ludwigstraße. In order to minimise the risk of further work on underground pipes and cables in the near future, those responsible have decided to modernise the ageing electricity and water pipes at the same time. SWG is also renewing the corresponding house connections as required and in consultation with the property owners.

Such extensive construction sites naturally lead to inconvenience for neighbouring residents. Noise can sometimes be expected during the construction work. In addition, the public car parks will be closed for the entire period because Liebigstrasse will have to be closed to through traffic. Appropriate diversions will of course be signposted. Local residents, emergency vehicles and refuse collection vehicles will of course still be able to pass through the area. "We are doing everything we can to minimise the disruption as much as possible," promises Ulli Boos, company spokesperson for SWG. Should there be any delays - for whatever reason - SWG will inform all those affected in good time.

Bus routes 3 and 13 will be diverted

The closure of Liebigstraße will also affect bus routes 3 and 13. Between the "Ulner Dreieck" and "Röntgenstraße" stops, SWG will route both routes via Aulweg and Leihgesterner Weg. The "Ebelstraße" stop cannot be served. The "Welckerstraße" stop on Liebigstraße is also inaccessible due to the closure. SWG is therefore setting up a replacement stop in Aulweg. It is only a few metres away.

Further information on current diversions and the associated timetable changes can be obtained by calling 0641 708-1400, on the Internet at www.stadtwerke-giessen.de/verkehrshinweise or at the RMV Mobility Centre Giessen in the SWG Customer Centre on Marktplatz. Opening hours: Monday to Friday 9 am to 6 pm. SWG can of course also be contacted by e-mail: mobizentrale@stadtwerke-giessen.de
