Since last year, the digital passenger information board at Giessen station has been telling all travellers and commuters where and when the next buses depart according to the timetable. For lines 2, 5 and 10, the board even shows the actual departure time in minutes - a plus in terms of service.

If you want to take the next bus from Giessen station to the city centre, you no longer have to calculate how much time will pass before departure. This task is performed by the modern passenger information system - in real time. The city of Giessen had the system installed during the modernisation of the station forecourt. After a successful test run lasting several months, the system was recently officially put into operation.
"From a quarter of an hour before the start of the journey, the digital board now even shows the actual start of our city bus routes in minutes and no longer just the departure according to the schedule," explains Mathias Carl, Managing Director of the Stadtwerke Giessen subsidiary MIT.BUS GmbH.
The prerequisite for specifying the times to the minute: Since last year, the MIT.BUS coaches have been equipped with a system subsidised by the state of Hesse, which forwards the current position to the Rhine-Main Transport Association (RMV). Using this data, arrival and departure times can be calculated very accurately and shown on the digital display at the station, for example. "It's not just passengers who arrive in Giessen by train and change to our lines 2, 5 or 10 who benefit from this modern technology," emphasises Mathias Carl. As MIT.BUS has equipped all coaches with the positioning system, travellers and commuters can find out the actual departure time of all SWG scheduled buses at each stop - via the RMV app or on the transport association's website. "This makes planning connections to Giessen or within Giessen even more convenient and reliable," assures Mathias Carl.

Passengers can find more information about the RMV app and the connection search on the Internet at www.rmv.de.
