Stadtwerke Gießen AG (SWG) bills its gas customers correctly

Stadtwerke Gießen AG (SWG) bills its gas customers correctly. And this has even been officially confirmed, as the Hessian calibration directorate certified that the company complies with the specifications for gas billing in the summer of 2004. "This means that the allegations made in the Bild newspaper and in the ZDF programme heute do not apply to our company. Moreover, most of these allegations are not tenable anyway," says Peter Keller, Head of the Gas and Water Supply - Installations department at SWG. 43% of gas bills in Germany are incorrect, the Bild newspaper claimed on Monday, citing a press release by the German Energy Consumers Association. The Bund der Energieverbraucher refers to an investigation carried out by the calibration offices of the federal states in 2003 (including SWG, as mentioned above). A total of 82 companies were inspected nationwide. The aim of this investigation was to determine whether the specifications for gas billing in accordance with DVGW Code of Practice G 685 were being fully complied with, and although the verification authorities did criticise individual points in their evaluation, these were mainly procedural complaints. These have no influence on the accuracy of gas billing. According to statements made by the verification authorities to the Association of Energy Consumers, the result even showed that there were no serious deviations to the detriment of customers. If this had been the case, the calibration office would have asked the company concerned to bill its customers subsequently.
