Select and book appointments for an energy consultation online - Stadtwerke Gießen has been offering this practical service since the beginning of June.

Providing expert advice to its customers has been part of Stadtwerke Gießen's (SWG) corporate philosophy for years. Especially when it comes to using energy as sparingly as possible. There is a great deal of interest in this: around 3,000 customers use this opportunity to find out more every year. SWG is now making this popular service even more accessible. Since the beginning of June, appointments for an energy consultation can be booked on the website www.stadtwerke-giessen.de. Conveniently from home, on any day of the week and at any time. "We expect this new way of making appointments to catch on quickly," explains Ulli Boos, Head of Marketing at SWG. Of course, all other previously available options for making appointments will remain the same.

Clearly structured, easy to use

SWG uses the "ontever" tool for online appointments, which is also used in other sectors - such as municipal administrations, doctors' surgeries and the retail trade. The application was developed in cooperation with the Giessen-based software company Fabrik19, and in addition to functionality, the developers placed particular emphasis on ease of use. "I'm sure that even people who are less tech-savvy will be able to book their desired appointment," promises Ulli Boos. In fact, the tool guides interested parties through the individual steps with clear instructions. Shortly before the booking is finalised, the system asks for the topic that the consultation should focus on. "Specifying the topic helps the counselling colleagues enormously in preparing for the meeting," says Ulli Boos.

The application sends an ICS file with the confirmation. Clicking on it makes the appointment appear in your own digital calendar. A counsellor then contacts you at the agreed time.

Important to know: Due to the pandemic, counselling is currently only available over the phone. "As soon as the infection situation allows and we can open the energy advice service in our customer centre on Marktplatz, we will of course resume face-to-face consultations," announces Ulli Boos. These can of course also be booked online in the same way. SWG is also planning to introduce video chats for consultations in the near future.
