Municipal utilities participate in KoM-SOLUTION

Stadtwerke Gießen AG (SWG) wants to make better use of the opportunities offered by a liberalised gas market. SWG has therefore acquired a 15 % stake in KoM-SOLUTION, a consultancy partnership of several municipal companies.

SWG wants to play an active role in shaping the gas market

Manfred Siekmann, CEO of SWG, on the background to this decision: "We have been annoyed for a long time about the standstill that has currently occurred in the liberalisation of the gas markets. We have been looking intensively for more favourable purchasing options for our gas for five years now. Unfortunately, the market has not yet offered such opportunities. We hope that our participation in KoM-SOLUTION will strengthen our competitive position. We want to actively shape the game of free competition as a competent participant and thus achieve better conditions for us and therefore for our customers."

KoM-SOLUTION is a consulting firm

KoM-SOLUTION is a consulting partnership in which, in addition to SWG, Technische Werke Ludwigshafen AG, Stadtwerke Rosenheim and Stadtwerke Uelzen are involved. The basic idea behind the form of a consulting partnership is that the participating companies can use the services offered by KoM-SOLUTION without having to give up their own core competences.

KoM-SOLUTION offers an overall concept for municipal utilities when it comes to accessing the gas market. This includes process, strategy and communication consulting as well as support for companies in accessing the gas market and the gas network. In addition, the KoM-SOLUTION Academy prepares municipal companies for the changing market conditions in tailor-made training programmes.
