Construction work on Kahlweg delayed

Due to unforeseen circumstances, the laying of the new drinking water main in Allendorf is taking longer than initially planned.

On behalf of Mittelhessische Wasserbetriebe (MWB), Stadtwerke Gießen (SWG) is responsible for maintaining and, if necessary, renewing the water supply infrastructure in Gießen. This is currently the case in the Allendorf district. A new drinking water main has been laid in Kahlweg since mid-August. The construction work was originally due to be completed at the end of September. However, as the work has been delayed due to unforeseen circumstances, SWG now expects it to continue until the end of October. As the supply lines run both under the carriageway and under the pavement, sections of the road will remain completely closed to traffic during the construction work. Residents can continue to drive up to the construction site, and the diversion signposted for through traffic will remain in place until the work is finally completed. Parking spaces in the affected areas will also remain unavailable and use of the pavements will be restricted. "We always try to minimise the disruption caused to residents by our construction work, but unfortunately the work on Kahlweg is now taking longer than planned. We ask for your understanding and are of course doing everything we can to ensure that there are no further delays," assures SWG company spokesperson Ulli Boos.
